Tritton Technologies launched its latest gaming headset. It introduced the most versatile gaming headset in the world, Tritton AX Pro. Firstly, a true Surround Sound headset with a microphone will work with PS3, Xbox 360, and PC/Mac.
Then, for the audio or movie enthusiast, the AX Pro is also compatible with any device that features a digital optical or 3.5mm analog 5.1 outputs. With the ability to connect the microphone via the Xbox 360 controller port, USB, and analog 3.5mm inputs, the AX Pro is the most versatile headset on the market and the only headset you will ever need.
If you can get past its tedious setup, the AX Pro Gaming Headset performs extremely well and is compatible with pretty much every gaming PC and game console except the Wii. Additionally, for the high-definition graphics, the current generation of video game consoles also offer discrete 5.1 surround sound.
While it is occasionally overlooked by some gamers, surround sound adds an entirely separate dimension to the experience of playing video games. Of course, to enjoy all surround sound has to offer, you will need a home theater setup including a receiver that can process the audio information.
After I bought this headset, I felt that the headphones alone are actually quite heavy. At first i was concerned with their weight, but after just 45 minutes of gameplay I needed to take a break for some head relief. The AX Pro comes fitted with soft, cloth-covered earpads and you are given the option to replace them with spare leather-cushioned pads. In terms of comfort, each had its pros and cons so I recommend trying each of them on.
In terms of sound quality, I was very impressed with the overall performance of the AX Pro. I tried it by playing various games on all consoles including Gears of War 2 on Xbox 360, Resistance 2 on PlayStation 3, and Shadow of the Colossus on PlayStation 2, and the AX Pro was really sharp and precise. During the height of some gun fighting sequences, you are really immersed in the experience, something even a great 5.1 home theater system is not always able to do.
The headphones have excellent noise canceling and sound isolation. These really allow for this type of intimate effect to shine. Besides, it is built on the successful AX360 Platform, the AX Pro features hardware Dolby Digital decoding and eight independent speakers to deliver true 5.1 surround sound audio.
There are also other advancements including an easy to use illuminated inline controller with a microphone mute switch, independent volume control for game chat, and the ability to custom tailor volume levels.
Overall, I really enjoyed the performance of the Tritton AX Pro gaming headset. While setting up the device is not for the timid, the time it takes to get going is worth it if you are serious about enjoying surround sound. Furthermore, the experience the headphones create is very unique if you can look past some of the necessary tedious steps to get it set up properly.
Priced around $160 online, then the Tritton AX Pro should be the only headphones you need for a while, considering the vast amount of sources it can support. At last, future game consoles should be able to work with it in terms of audio, but there may be issues with getting the headset feature to perform correctly.
